I have just released ACL Manager 2.4.0! Besides the usual smaller improvements and bug-fixes this version offers several new ACL features on top of the Joomla ACL system. ACL manager is fully compatible with Joomla 2.5 and Joomla 3.1.
In the past years I have seen many questions by ACL Manager users for specific features that are not possible with the Joomla core ACL system. Until now, ACL Manager offered mainly an easy and intuitive way to manage Joomla ACL and the diagnostic tool to fix the Joomla Assets table. But that will change now!
This new version of ACL Manager enriches Joomla ACL with several most requested ACL features. More ACL power and flexibility for your Joomla website! Many thanks to all users that have provided feedback and suggestions.
Lets have a closer look at the new Enhanced ACL options in ACL Manager.Read more: ACL Manager 2.4.0 released: Enhanced Joomla! ACL
A couple weeks ago I wrote about ACL permissions per module in Joomla 3.2?. In that blog post I asked for help testing the new Modules ACL feature I have been working on in the past months. Many ACL Manager customers and users on the Joomla forums have been asking for the possibility to set ACL permission per module in Joomla, rather than the entire Module Manager. While I could have added this feature to ACL Manager, I decided to see if I could get this feature in the Joomla core itself. In that way all Joomla users can benefit of it!
As a result of the blog post several people tested my proposed code for Joomla. After enough successful tests the status was changed into "Accepted". This morning I woke up and found an notification e-mail that the Pull Request with the proposed code was committed to the Joomla core! Simplified version: Module ACL will be one of the many great new features and improvements of Joomla 3.2, that is planned for release on November 6th, 2013.
If you can't wait, and would like to test this (and many other) new features, you can download the development version of Joomla 3.2 here. For testing purposes only!Read more: Module ACL in Joomla 3.2!
